Land visualization
Description
The field of geographical information systems has suffered an important advance during the last years. This is due largely to the emergence of land visualization tools that are available through the Internet, and are able to handle large amounts of information. Moreover, government agencies have promoted greater transparency in access and transmission of such information. The emergence of new standards for managing geographic information has reinforced the fact that many organizations are providing free-form data.
Our research center has participated in the development of technologies for the management of geographic information. We have created several graphics tools for terrain visualization, using these standard protocols. We have participated in several projects addressing the deployment of geo-referenced information to solve complex planning and management tasks. On the other hand, we have developed basic tools for displaying virtual globes on new mobile devices.
