Introduction

The Imaging Technology Center (CTIM) from the University of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria (ULPGC) is an organization created under the regulations for R&D Centers as an ULPGC internal entity, which comes into being in order to promote scientific and technical research activities concerning image technologies, in addition to the exercise of any other function it could be assigned according to the ULPGC statutes.

The Imaging Technology Center constitutes a research center in accordance with the provisions of the ULPGC statutes. It is located at the Computer Science building, in Tafira Campus, Las Palmas de Gran Canaria. It was founded in 2010 from the association of several research groups belonging to the Computer Science Department, the Electronic Engineering and Automatic Control Deparment and to the Signals and Communications Department at this University.


The founding groups of the center are:

1. Mathematical Image Analysis and Computer Graphics (AMIGO) group, whose lines of research include Angiographic Medical Images Analysis, Contour and Applications Analysis, Applications of Mathematical Analysis to Computer Vision and Application of Differential Equations to Image Enhancement, to Remote Sensing (PolSAR/SAR), and to Biometric Analysis, and Computer Graphics applied to terrain visualization and point cloud processing.

2. Image Analysis and Software Engineering (AIIS) group, whose lines of research include Computer Vision and Graphics and Software Engineering.
