Remote Sensing Spring School in Argentina
Tuesday, 08 October 2019 06:46

The paper titled "Remote Sensing Spring School in Argentina: SAR for Environmental and Production Monitoring" has been published in the journal IEEE Geoscience and Remote Sensing Magazine. In this work, it is presented a summary of the Third Remote Sensing Spring School held at the Teófilo Tabanera Space Center, Córdoba, Argentina. The Spring School took place between 10–21 September 2018, in order to support the launch of the Satélite Argentino de Observación con Microondas (SAOCOM) 1A synthetic aperture radar (SAR) mission. More than 90 specialists in a variety of areas and representing South and Central American countries and others around the world were present. Among these experts were Prof. Luis Gomez, Director of the Imaging Technology Center, and Prof. Alejandro C. Frery, leader of LaCCAN – Laboratório de Computação Científica e Análise Numérica, and CTIM collaborator.More information on the website of the Spring School and in the

Accepted paper in IEEE Geoscience and Remote Sensing Letters (GRSL)
Monday, 27 May 2019 11:16

The article titled "Despeckling PolSAR Images with a Structure Tensor Filter" has been accepted for its publication in the next available issue of the journal IEEE Geoscience and Remote Sensing Letters (GRSL). This work is the result of a collaboration between CTIM researchers and Alejandro C. Frery, leader of LaCCAN (Laboratório de Computação Científica e Análise Numérica) at the Universidade Federal de Alagoas, Brazil. In this paper, we propose a new despeckling filter for Fully PolSAR (Polarimetric Synthetic Aperture Radar) images defined by 3x3 complex Wishart distributions. We evaluate its performance through an innovative experimental setup, that also includes Monte Carlo analysis, in comparison with a state-of-the-art polarimetric filter.A summary of the article and the demo code can be found at this link.
